Alex Jones Career
Alex Jones began his radio career in 1996 as the host of “The Final Edition” on KJFK. Before it, he worked in Austin on a live call-in public access television program. During his campaign for Congress, Ron Paul appeared frequently on his program.
He shared the title of “Best Austin Talk Show Host” with Shannon Burke in 1999, based by reader voting in the Austin Chronicle. He was fired from KJFK later that year for refusing to expand his subject matter and thereby affecting the station’s ability to sell advertisements. Then, Jones set up the internet broadcast of his program from his home.
Alex, who has since distributed around twenty additional documentaries, produced his debut film, “America: Destroyed by Design,” in 1998. Additionally, two of his works have been published: “9-11: Descent Into Tyranny” (2002) and “The Answer to 1984 Is 1776” (2008).
Jones is the director and publisher of the InfoWars website, which gets around 10 million visitors on a monthly basis. The website has been accused of promoting harmful conspiracy theories and has been labeled as false news. According to reports, the website’s annual revenue peaked at over $20 million.
Jones derives two-thirds of his revenue, according to the German publication Der Spiegel, from the sale of his own products, which are promoted via the InfoWars website and advertising spots on his program.
On March 12, 2020, the Attorney General of New York issued him a prohibition notice for moving forward his shows during the COVID-19 pandemic. He had made unsubstantiated claims regarding the efficacy of the products he sold as treating for COVID-19. In April 2020, the FDA took action, and Jones was issued a warning that continued sale of the products might end in detention and a sanction from the government.
