Henyard began her political career in 2013 when she was elected as the village trustee of Dolton. She held that role for eight years, during which time she pushed for fiscal restraint, transparency, public safety, economic development, and youth empowerment. She also led a number of initiatives and programs, including the Dolton Youth Council, the Dolton Beautification Committee, the Dolton Senior Citizens Advisory Board, and the Dolton Business Association.
