Kurtley Beale Career and Achivements

Beale began his professional rugby career at the Northern Suburbs club, alongside future Waratahs teammates Al Baxter and Sam Norton-Knight. When the Australian Rugby Championship began in 2007, Beale took over as the Rams’ starting flyhalf. He played every game of the season, and the Rams went on to win the minor championship. He was named the ARC’s player of the tournament in 2007. He was a top try scorer and leader in try assists.

Beale was picked to play for Randwick in June 2013 while on leave from the Melbourne Rebels after spending time in treatment for drinking. He had previously represented Randwick against Gordon in 2010.Beale became the Waratahs’ first-choice fly-half at the start of the 2008 Super 14 season. He also took over goal-kicking duties from Peter Hewat, but Beale’s kicking was not regarded as one of the team’s strengths.

Beale returns to the Wallabies in 2017 by joining with the Waratahs again.Kurtley made his comeback against Japan, winning 63-30, and also helped the Wallabies continue their winning streak against Wales.Unfortunately, they were defeated at Twickenham, when England beat Australia 6-30.Another miserable loss came against Scotland, but Beale did score in the 24-53 loss.

He then played inside centre against Ireland in 2018, but the Wallabies were stunned in a 2-1 series defeat.Australia then lost the Bledisloe Cup to the All Blacks for the 16th straight year, with crushing defeats in Sydney, Auckland, and Oita, respectively.Kurtley was selected for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, where the Wallabies were eliminated in the quarter-finals by England.Beale then signed with Racing 92 in the Top 14 and left Super Rugby.

Rugby Australia declared in February 2022 that Beale would return to the New South Wales Waratahs following his time with Racing 92 in Paris during the 2021-22 Top 14 season. This would allow Beale to compete in a fourth World Cup for Australia. Beale would then return to play for the Waratahs starting in the 2023 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Beale remained consistent at Racing 92.He was not selected for the Wallabies in 2020, despite meeting the Giteau’s law criterion. However, in 2021, because to Reece Hodge’s injury, Beale was called back up to the Wallabies and named to the bench against Scotland.
