Exelby started her career as a full-time journalist after graduating from Queensland University of Technology in 2005, working as a reporter for Seven Queensland’s local news bulletins in Bundaberg and Townsville.
Exelby moved to Canberra in 2008 to begin a three-year term as a Ten News political reporter, working in the Canberra Press Gallery for Network 10, where she reported the 2010 Australian federal election.
Following her tenure in Canberra, Exelby moved to Sydney to work as a senior journalist and news presenter.Exelby was the original host of Network 10’s breakfast news program Wake Up, alongside Natarsha Belling and James Mathison, which debuted on November 4, 2013.
