Lauryn Hill began her acting career as a teen. She debuted in the soap opera As the World Turns (1991) and the off-Broadway play Club XII with MC Lyte. Her role as Rita in Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993) gained critical acclaim.
Lauryn Hill rose to global fame as the lead singer of The Fugees. As a result of the success of their second album, The Score (1996), she became the first woman to win a Grammy for Best Rap Album. “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not” were among the successes on the soundtrack.
