Gautam Adani is an Indian Business man and chairman and founder of Adani Group.Gautam Adani has seven brothers.Vinod Adani is an Indian businessman, elder brother of Gautam Adani and the head of the Adani Group. Gautam Adani moved to Mumbai in 1978 to work as a diamond sorter for Mahendra Brothers. He worked for the company for about 2-3 years before opening his own diamond brokerage in Mumbai’s Zaveri Bazaar.

In 1981, his elder brother, Mansukhbhai Adani, purchased a plastics business in Ahmedabad and asked him to operate it. This venture’s goal was to act as Adani’s entry point into global trading by importing PVC (polyvinyl chloride).

He began importing raw polymers for small-scale companies in 1985. Adani established Adani Exports Limited in 1988, which is currently known as Adani Enterprises Limited, a subsidiary of the Adani Group. Initially, the corporation focused on trading agricultural and power commodities.

His company benefited from economic liberalization measures in 1991, allowing him to diversify into metals, textiles, and agricultural products.The Gujarat government announced in 1994 that the management of the Mundra Port will be outsourced. Adani was given the contract in 1995.

He discovered the main jetty in 1995. Mundra Port & Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) operations were handed to Adani Ports & SEZ Limited. The firm has grown to become the largest private multi-port operator in the world. Mundra Port is India’s largest private sector port, with the capacity to handle a staggering 210 million tons of cargo each year.

Adani launched Adani Power Limited in 1996 as the Adani Group’s facility business unit. Adani Power is the country’s largest private thermal power producer, with a total capacity of 4620 MW of thermal power plants.

Adani entered the facilities generation business in 2006. He bought Abbot Point Port in Australia and Carmichael Coal in Queensland between 2009 and 2012.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) granted Adani the world’s largest solar bid, valued at $6 billion, in May 2020. Adani Green will manage the 8000 MW solar power plant project, while Adani Solar will increase its photovoltaic cell and module manufacturing capacity by 2000MW.

In May 2022, the Adani family paid $10.5 billion to Holcim Group for Ambuja Cements and its subsidiary ACC via a foreign special-purpose corporation.

AMG Media Networks Limited (AMNL), an Adani Group company, announced plans to acquire RRPR Holding, which controls 29.18% of the national news network NDTV, in August 2022. Furthermore, AMNL launched an open offer to buy the remaining 26% of NDTV.
